In the space of two years, Labour have gone from promising to respect the largest vote in our country’s history to calling for it to be cancelled.

It was great to welcome Boris Johnson to our constituency today ahead of the North East hustings in Darlington! Walking up Westgate in Guisborough, he had the chance to talk to local people about issues from Brexit to British Steel. His connection with the public is simply second to none.

I warmly welcome today’s pledge from Boris Johnson that he will boost police officer numbers by 20,000 if he is elected as party leader and Prime Minister this month.

I'm delighted that Boris Johnson has set out his support for Freeports if he becomes Prime Minister. This is something for which I have been campaigning alongside Ben Houchen, Tees Valley Mayor right since we were elected, and would be a huge boost to jobs and growth.

This morning the CQC has issued its report on South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, rating the Trust as Requires Improvement.

I’ve been in Doncaster this morning for the weekly meeting of the British Steel taskforce with Business Secretary Greg Clark, Ben Houchen Tees Valley Mayor, the company and the trade unions.

So many of our local firms are doing great things, and on Friday I visited FJ Booth Construction, the structural steelworks contractor led by local man Shaun Muir.
