I’ve been back in Doncaster today with Ben Houchen to discuss all things British Steel with the special working group of management and unions. The Business Secretary Greg Clark has spent the last fortnight flying all around the world (literally) talking to interested parties and the Official Receiver is in talks with them all. His focus remains on a sale of the whole business and we are going to get a full briefing from him next Monday. Things remain positive ?
Tomorrow at 4.30pm there will be a debate in Parliament about British Steel and I will be there to talk about the issues, opportunities and challenges facing the sector. There’s great cross-party unity of purpose and that’s really important as we present a welcoming and united face to prospective new owners.
