At the end of a busy constituency surgery - and a very long week! - it was great to support Comic Relief Red Nose Day at Marton Library. Such a great cause, and thank you to everyone who is raising funds across our constituency today.
Being an MP is a matter of taking decisions and honouring your promises. Last night, as promised, I voted against the Withdrawal Agreement. As the Attorney General’s own very honest advice made clear, the potential for our being trapped by the EU in the backstop had not been solved.
It was a huge honour to be named "Britain’s Greenest MP" last night at The Climate Coalition’s Green Heart Hero Awards. The Green Heart Hero Awards recognise the work of individuals, community groups and businesses to tackle climate change and promote a cleaner future.
At Education Questions today I highlighted the totally unacceptable situation regarding the lack of secondary school places in Middlesbrough, and called for urgent action. A bid has been submitted for a new free school in Middlehaven.
After a long week in London, it was great to be back in the constituency and to hold a really fun and productive surgery at the Loftus Community Hub. Thank you to everyone who came to share your thoughts on everything from Brexit to buses!
Today I visited Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen to discuss the next steps for a possible rail solution to the Marton Crawl. I'm hopeful we can investigate the case for a new train station outside Nunthorpe with a park and ride for commuters from East Cleveland.
