Setting up your own business takes so much courage and hard work, so I am thrilled that we have had some fantastic members of our local business community standing as Conservative candidates for May’s elections. I look forward to working with all these candidates to back policies supporting growth and job creation across Redcar and Cleveland.
Graham Jeffery and Carole Jeffery will be standing for re-election in Hutton and Belmont wards in Guisborough respectively. They have built up their ecological consultancy company EcoSurv Ltd over the last 16 years, helping their customers to manage habitats sustainably. They have also supported residents as councillors on issues such as securing signage to tackle the problem of HGVs going through the town centre when making deliveries.
Andrew Hixon, who will be standing in Belmont alongside Carole, started his career as a lab assistant at Clariant with no qualifications in 1992 and after completing a distance learning degree in Analytical Chemistry has worked his way up through the industry to become Managing Director of Technivac. Andrew hopes to use his skills and understanding of business to support local enterprise and residents of his hometown effectively. He's also a great community activist when it comes to leading Guisborough litter picks and clean-ups!
Brotton Matters candidate Lee Holmes runs his own small business and also has experience of supporting members of the public through his previous role in the civil service and volunteering with the Citizens’ Advice Bureau. Lee would like to see the council doing more to make Brotton an even better place to live and making the most of East Cleveland’s potential and will be a powerful advocate for this if he is elected!
