Like thousands of you, I voted to change the name of our airport back to Teesside International - a name that rings with pride and identity, and unlike “Durham Tees Valley” actually means something. That is the overwhelmingly popular request our Mayor has pledged to honour this week.
As we close 2018, it’s worth reflecting how Tees Valley Mayor, Ben Houchen, has delivered on the promise he made last year: to find a viable way to rescue our airport. Labour first said nobody cared. Then they said it couldn’t be done. They were wrong.
Now we need their council leaders to make amends and follow the lead of scores of business and community leaders by backing Ben’s plan when it is voted on by the Combined Authority Cabinet in the New Year.
If you haven’t yet done so, please show your support by SIGNING and SHARING the call for them to get behind the deal at www.backbensplan.com over the Christmas period!
