There's really good news for Saltburn today, as the Government has announced £40,000 for a new conservation management plan for Valley Gardens, Hazelgrove and Saltburn Gill. Since 2015, the Coastal Revival Fund has provided £5.6 million to support 144 projects in coastal communities to help kick-start regeneration of “at risk” coastal heritage sites.
The Valley Gardens are one of Saltburn’s gems and a fantastic place for families to enjoy - including my own!
Councillor Philip Thomson, chairman of Saltburn Valleys CIO, said “An application for a Conservation Management Plan across the Saltburn Valleys was submitted to enhance existing plans focused specifically on the Victorian pleasure gardens.
"With this extra funding, a much wider piece of work can be programmed which will allow consultancy work to be undertaken right up to Saltburn Viaduct and also to take in Hazelgrove Wood. Residents can be delighted with this news."
