What's next with Brexit? - My thoughts on last night's vote

Wednesday, 16 January, 2019

Last night was one of the most important votes in Parliament for decades. In my video I set out what should happen next.

The most important message to share is that the referendum result must be honoured. A bad deal has been rejected, but there is a better deal we should be pursuing. I explain a little about this in the video and you can read about it in full here.

The other thing I touch on is the confidence vote today. I will of course be voting confidence in the Government - while I disagree over European policy, I am a loyal supporter of the Government's agenda that is delivering record jobs and exciting regeneration for Teesside.

Our local Labour Remainer candidate is getting very excited about this, but we should be clear: the Government will win the vote this evening and we now need to re-focus on securing a proper exit from the EU.
