The Government is in talks with Labour about their proposal for a Customs Union with the EU after we leave. It is still very unclear what will emerge from those talks - there is a reasonable chance nothing will - but I have warned this would be totally unsuitable for our country.
A Customs Union would mean the UK has no independent trade policy. As former Trade Minister Greg Hands has pointed out "a Latvian MEP would have more say over UK trade policy than any elected politician in the United Kingdom...There would be a massive democratic deficit when it comes to trade in this country, which would conflict sharply with both our tradition and our future as a free trading nation."

In Parliament yesterday I took the opportunity to make it clear I would vote against adopting Labour's policy.
