Remembrance Sunday was truly memorable this year and it was a huge privilege to lay my wreath at Loftus this morning, with an enormous turnout that I know was mirrored at the ceremonies held across our area. The silence was observed in total peace - all I could hear was the gentle flapping of the lowered standards.
Thank you to all those friends who I got to see during the course of the day, and particularly Revd Adam Gaunt for a marvellous service beforehand at Loftus Parish. There was richly deserved applause for Mayor Barry Hunt after his vigil at all our cenotaphs and, as always, Alison and her team at Loftus Town Council had organised superbly. A final thank you to Ben Houchen - Tees Valley Mayor for choosing to join us here today.
It was a day for everyone to be proud of.
