One of the best things about our East Cleveland villages is the huge sense of community. Yesterday I was in Loftus to celebrate the beginning of Luke Senior Hall's new life after its transfer to that community from Beyond Housing UK.

The Hall was saved from being converted into housing thanks to the incredible work of Eileen (centre) and her fellow committee members, as well as the full support of local councillors. They lobbied the Housing Association and went to Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council to make representations in person to save the Hall. Over three years on, this was a chance to enjoy the moment.

There was a fantastic turnout for the party and with everything from knitting to line dancing now scheduled, the future's bright. Well done all round!!
