Since my election in 2017 I have been proud to support the endeavours of hundreds of young people from across our area who have taken part in the NCS - National Citizen Service programmes.
I've been grilled harder than any TV interview, I've seen first hand fantastic projects being delivered, I've "dabbed" (badly!), talked to so many individuals that have been helped, but most of all, I've met some outstanding young individuals in that time.
This year however has exceeded all expectations. Thanks to fantastic support from Claire Wordsworth and the team at Sabic Uk Petrochemicals amongst others, over 200 young people have taken part and they, along with the 30 leaders that the scheme employs locally, have raised almost £12,000 for Marske Hall.
This fantastic total has been reached with support from local businesses, sea dips, sponsored walks and two amazing race nights at Corus Sports & Social Centre (British Steel Club Dormanstown).
All in all I feel humbled and honoured to support such a worthwhile scheme and whilst I am sadly unable to attend this year’s graduation ceremony I know all involved will enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed the last two.
Well done to all!
