Saltburn-by-the-Sea looked absolutely beautiful yesterday and I joined Councillor Philip Thomson and local resident Jacob Young to celebrate the great news that the Saltburn Cliff Tramway has just won a VisitEngland Visitor Attraction Accolade.
Attractions receive this award for the outstanding all-round experience they provide, from story-telling to customer service to food and drink. It's another feather in the town's cap!
Philip and Jacob, who are both standing to represent Saltburn in May's Council elections, then took me for a discussion about how we can improve the parking situation in town. As we all know, there's a shortage of good parking spaces.
We're pictured below down by the car park at the bottom of Valley Gardens. Philip set out his vision how the empty land down by the Gill right next to the car park could be used to create around 50 more spaces if a retaining wall were put up to prevent further erosion - an idea that I think has real merit.
